I attempted to resign today. I received another job offer, for significantly more money (although no 401k) and am pretty sure I am going to take it.
My current boss has asked for Monday to discuss and look at options to convince me to stay. She asked me to send her an email, explaining why I want to leave/what this company is offering that is so appealing.
I am at a loss for what to include, how to formulate, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'd just tell your boss that it is a combination of many things, including your desire to work with the other company. I think it is a pretty tough situation to be in, but don't let her convince you to stay there.

Do you even want to stay? If not, I'd say there are better opportunities at this other job that have nothing to do with $ or benefits.
If you want to stay, and you feel more $ is going to keep you there, be honest and say you were offered an X% increase in pay.
But "pretty sure" you're going to take it makes it sound like you might want to stick around.

Ditto with PP... why did you want to leave the current job? Were you actively searching to get out of there... or did someone find you w/o any effort? That would effect my response to the boss.
I won't want you to stay at the old job, then regret it 6 months from now (because you are more miserable, didn't get a promotion or other promised job responsibility, etc.)
I was not looking, I was approached. The article PP linked was wonderful. I basically told her the highlights of what the new job offers, and how it positively affects my life/goals for the future.
Sigh, who knew quitting would be so hard.
Thanks for all the feedback/advice!
