Apparently we have MOCK strawberry, not wild strawberry.

So I guess I am not eating them, but it also seems that they will take over my yard...  now what?

Interesting.  I have never heard of that, so I did a little reading.  From the quick skimming I did (and what you posted), they prefer moist conditions, so first, I wouldn't water that area.  Looks like it's time to start pulling! I would also remove the berries to prevent seeding, although my guess is that getting the roots out is more important. Good luck!

LOL I thought about not watering but here in the north east we have been getting a TON of rain - I am doomed!
