Think of something good for this spot
It is along the side of my front porch. It is mostly shaded. I would like a vine, or climbing thing, to give us some privacy. There is a giant french pvssy willow beside the spot, and my neighbors have a giant rose of sharon about five feet away, if that is helpful. Obviously, it has to be safe to be planted next to a structure.
I like salad bar, I like Despicable Me, tosh 2.0, I like Connect 4, Freedom of Speech, David Fincher, sidewalk, I like 1-800-SLIM, yo mama jokes, strawberry, Wilmer Valmavelma, Leon J. Panetta, ice skating for fun, not to save life. Cheese. Is for mouse. Are you Mick Mouse? WHY DON'T YOU GET IN YOUR SPACESHIP LIKE MICK MOUSE?

How shady are we talking -- dappled shade or deep shade? Does it get direct sun any part of the day?
Are you willing to put in a trellis?
What's your climate?
Off the top of my head there are some clematis and climbing roses that tolerate some shade. If it's really shady maybe Akebia (check if it's invasive in your area).
