Now that school is finally finished for me I am so ready for my summer and all the exciting plans DH and I have. What are my fellow nesties doing this summer?
Re: Summer Plans
I am out of school for the summer too!
I start a three week grad class tomorrow. I am supposed to take another class at the end of July, but I don't need that one so I might drop it. Other than that I am going to be doing a lot of work on the house and yard. I have a short trip tentatively planned for late July. Right now it includes Niagara Falls, a visit to a friend in Connecticut, and Gettysburg. But I might scrap all of that for a trip to DC, DH has never been to any of these so I need to expose him to these places!
Nothing crazy going on for me this summer. The end of July DH & I will be heading over to Rockport, MA for a long weekend to relax. And hopefully we can have our family and friends up for a BBQ at the house.
That's about it though.
I love Rockport! Actually I love all of the small towns that surround Boston. I so wish we could get out there this summer (my aunt & uncle live in Ipswich) but with DH's summer work schedule we don't have the time.
Matt and I just talked about this today. We both have next week off, and decided we're going to PA to visit his family. He wants us to do something romantic, but we can't think of anything. Camping maybe? As far as the non-romantic plans go, I want to go to the anthracite museum--basically a coal museum that has a big mine shaft or something. Then in mid-August I'm done school until my internship in January.
In late August I'm going to Montreal for a couple days to visit some friends with my cousin. Then going to a family get-together to celebrate my grandma's 90th birthday on the 27th. Yeah!
Come visit me! :-)
My summer plans consist of A LOT of housework/yard work. I also love the summer in Buffalo, there are so many festivals and events going on, we hope to take a break from the house and get to some of them. Maybe (if the house doesn't suck our budget dry) we will take a few road trips to places like Boston, Toronto, and Montreal.

The only thing we have planned this summer is a weekend trip to Ocean City MD on July 8th-10th. My best guy friend (who Jason also gets along with really well) is going with us, so it'll be my two favorite boys and I, and I am so excited! We're only going Friday-Sunday so it'll be a short trip, but it's only 3 1/2 hours away from our house so it's totally worth it.
We've found a really cheap hotel, crappy, but cheap lol so maybe we'll try to sneak away for another weekend sometime later in the summer too. We've decided that this summer we want to make it a point to enjoy a lot of local things rather than spending a lot of money on a longer/nicer vacation. For example, there are crystal grottoes caverns less than 20 minutes from our apartment that I had no idea about and I've lived in this area for my entire life, so we're going to make it a point to check them out.
Rockport is so pretty. My friend lived out there until recently, right on the water. It was a great place. I love all of those north shore towns. We typically go to Newburyport for a weekend each summer, but with Jack afraid of his own shadow, I don't know if we'll be able to get there. We can't leave him with anyone, and he wouldn't do well in a kennel.
Summer is my busiest time at work, so we never make any sort of plans. Though I'm not a huge fan of summer anyway, (Heat + Humidity make me a sad panda), so it doesn't bother me as much as it could.
As for trips, the only places we have planned to go this summer is Colorado w/DH's family for 5 days and our hometown for friend's wedding/activities.
Locally we have Jack Johnson concert (which I'm really excited for; I've wanted to see him since I was in hs and never have), tix for 2 Cubs-White Sox games (again, a huge deal here and something I've wanted to do but never have), Lollapalooza tix (3 day music fest with Coldplay (whom I've always wanted to see) and some other big names).
Also training for a marathon. We hope to go camping once and otherwise, just enjoy summer in the city!

I am old, so I went to a couple of old school Lollapaloozas. (Or, as my friend's not-so-little-anymore brother used to call it, "Soppalouie.") They were always awesome. My husband and I thought about going this year, because we've wanted to go to Chicago, and there are a bunch of bands we like. But then we thought about standing around in crowds for three days, and how cranky we'd be, and decided not to bother, heh. So we'll just have to live vicariously through you, as we sit on our porch and yell at kids to get off our lawn.
My parents are coming to visit for a couple of weeks in July and then I'm flying home to Saskatchewan to see my sister and nieces for a few days.
In July, I'm also taking Chris on a surprise b-day weekend to Toronto to see a Blue Jays game, stay downtown and hang out, and meet some of his friends for dinner.
In August, we're driving to New Brunswick for a wedding, and will likely take the southern route through Vermont and Maine.

TTC Since January 2011 - We have bad spermLol!! I have never gone, but DH got the tickets at pre-sale price of $60 each (retail starts at $160), so what the heck? I figure even if I can only stand to stay for Coldplay that's worth $60. I'm a bit nervous about the crowds of people! But there are a lot of smaller known bands that I like playing so hopefully I'll survive. Although Muse is playing at the same time as Coldplay. I'll go to Coldplay, but I like some of Muse's stuff too

Definitely go watch the Foo Fighters show. I've seen them twice, and they are, without a doubt, one of the best live bands I've ever seen. Dave Grohl is a maniac. (In the best possible way.)
My husband saw Eminem a few years ago, and said he was awesome, too.
I couldn't agree more. I was exhausted just watching him. I find Chris Martin (Coldplay) is similarly crazy, but he drops way fewer F-bombs.

TTC Since January 2011 - We have bad spermIf you get a chance, go to Thirty Bench. It's a little north of Niagara, near Grimsby, ON. That one is our favourite, although there are quite a few really good ones around there.

I am getting ready to switch schedules (again) so we are still pretty up in the air on summer plans.
We are going to go to Chicago next Monday night and get a hotel and go to Six Flags on Tuesday (yes I am a big kid).
We have to go to Des Moines the first weekend in August for a wedding (not looking forward to this at all!)
The second weekend in August we are going camping and canoeing for my BF's 30th birthday.
We are heading to the Lake of the Ozarks for Labor day with our friends that own a house on the lake, this will be the most fun, I love boating!!
Hopefully we will get to MN to visit my grandparents at some point but the weekends are filling up quickly.
