I put her to bed on her back....

and Allison was sleeping on her tummy this morning! She's been sleeping on her side lately, so I knew this was coming, but it kinda freaks me out a little.

A does not like laying on her back or sitting  for too long these days. She's been trying to flip over(back to front) for a few weeks now, but her bottom arm would get stuck. Shaun showed her how to use/move that arm on Tuesday night and she's been rolling ever since. She still can't roll tummy to back though, it just makes her mad.

Re: I put her to bed on her back....

  • Just make sure the crib isn't full of toys and blanks and she'll be fine.
  • I love A!!!

FWIW my girls are tummy sleepers.  Used to freak me out!  So much so that I'd call the pedi and ask him every single month when we went in for regular appts.  She should be a-ok sleeping on her tummy like that, even tho everyone and their neighbor tells you to put them on their backs.  Whatayagonnado?  I assume A has good control of her head, lifting it and turn it from side to side.  Even if she can't quite roll tummy to back yet, she can arch back and lift her head up to call for you if she needs help.  I also limited what was in the crib, so my girls wouldn't snuggle up to anything face first.

And...I still checked on them a couple of times during the night.  Just something moms do...you know.  Wink!  HTH

  • I'm no help on the subject. But I just love your siggy pic.  I want to gobble her up!
  • Oooo J!  Gobble gobble!  And nuzzle your face into their neck!  OMG!  You're gonna LOVE that!
  • it is normal to worry a bit when she first starts sleeping on ther tummy.  I remember losing lots of sleep for about a week before I felt very comfortable with it.

Just relax and like mo said, she will be just fine.  :)

    Ps:  love the new pic!

  • If she's old enough to move on her own, you really don't have to worry about her on her tummy. It's fine. She's getting too old to have to worry about SIDS anyway!

  • Thank you for all your responses. :-)

It's funny that my gut tells me she'll be juuuuust fine, but then my head gets in the way. Last night I pulled the co-sleeper right up against our bed, just so I could listen to her breathing or rest my hand on her to feel her breathing. Ai Ai Ai.  Call me paranoid.....

  • Hello Sister Paranoid!!!  I still go in and check on my girls, rest my hand on there chest, give em a nice little rub/pat good night (again for the nth time)...EVERY night!  Oh my!  ~sigh~

BTW - I can't wait to see you and A!  And I'm so gonna nuzzle with her!

  • Jacob loved to sleep on his tummy. ?At 5 mos she should be just fine. ?I know what it is like to worry. ?Just check on her a couple of times during the night. ?LOL that she gets mad that she can't turn back over!
  • Love the new siggy :o)
