I *heart* Costco chocolate cake. I might get myself a membership just so I can buy cake.
Re: Monday Randoms
Good morning.
Costco makes delicious cakes. We have them at work from time to time.
Mmmmm....Cake.
I've rediscovered the deliciousness of ice cream sandwiches. They are so simple yet so awesome.
Another fan of Costco cakes.
Or any cakes.
Or anything with sugar.

SO good! And I can pretend they're healthy.

I just found out my boss is going to be out of town until Friday. Sweet.
I have about 20 tomato plants growing that we didn't plant this year. Volunteers from last year's crop.
I finally got to spend several hours on the garden areas at home. School and spending time on operation sell this house have taken my normal gardening time up. Felt so good to weed and plant some annuals.
NO, and I feel terrible. I don't have any personal pictures that have inspired me enough to re-enter again. That tells me I need to do something about that! What's wrong with me?
I'm in the process of making "the switch" from Sam's to Costco. We had Costco reps on site at work during our health fair. They told me I can get part of my Sam's Club membership fee back if I cancel early. They just said they don't publish it so I have to call and find out for sure. They had those Costco veggie straws at the fair and I agree - delish and not bad on the calorie side for what you get. I LOVE costco sheet cakes. Those are THE BEST. I need to get a plain, white one for Pete's 5th bday which is a plane theme. I'm going to draw a runway on the cake (can't be that hard right?) and then put some plastic airplanes on it and write his name, etc.
Cute idea!

I love all this Costco talk. hee hee.
I survived my work event. It went so well! I'm mentally and physicall beat still. I'm trying to use today to get caught up on work stuff because starting tomorrow I have to get back into the swing of thing. We are competely redesigning our newsletter for fall and we have our fundraiser in August. I haven't even put any thought into the fundraiser. I'm trying not to think about it. I want one stress free day.
Such a great idea. When is his birthday?
Costco rules.
I've tried both Sam's club and Costco and really can't say I didn't find them all that helpful. I guess I'm not the buy it bigger/bulk type. I used to be but not so much anymore. The one thing I was in love with at Costco they stopped carrying and that was a 3 pack of OJ. So that is my 2 cents.
We signed the bankruptcy paper's friday afternoon. So now we just wait for our court date which should be next month. So by August I should have an idea on how much longer we will be staying in our house.
At this point I'm a no as well. The deadline is Thursday and I just don't have any great ideas. Plus it is rather expensive (entry cost plus cost to frame or mount things) and last year's venture was a lot of time/effort/money for something that resulted in zero new contacts. I don't regret it at all, and had a ton of fun, but I'm not sure that I can justify that again this year, especially without anything that I feel excited about entering or making.
I've never tried either, but I don't even know what we would buy in bulk or where we would put it.
Technically, it is 7/5/11 but I'm having the party the next weekend because I figure people will be travelling. Here is all I have done so far:
I love how it turned out and yes, I realize I got the date wrong. I already fixed that :-).
This is why we've never tried either as well. I figure you have to have a family for it to be worth it. (ETA: And ample storage space.)
Modern Family fans, did anyone see the episode where Michell and Cam went to Costco for the first time? Hilarious.
Yeah, we definitely have room to put bulk purchases. It is a lot cheaper in the long run. Especially for cleaning stuff/toiletries, etc. You have to be careful with food that spoils or use your freezer if you can.
Tigers, I love that invitation! So creative. Great job! Can I ask what program you used to design it?
Thanks! I used plain old Photoshop CS4 to design it and winkflash to print it because they have blank 4x8 photocards you can use. You could probably do the same thing in Photoshop Elements because I didn't use any complicated techniques that wouldn't be available in Elements. I got my inspiration from www.birthdaypartyideas.com and layout ideas from pinterest and google image searches. I just combined a bunch of the stuff I liked into one.
of course now he says he wants a plane AND train party. Well, he's stuck now!
ArtPrize: I didn't realize there was an entry fee for the artists. Now that you both aren't entering anything, you're free to enjoy it as a participant. Kind of freeing?
Buying in Bulk: we are bulk buyers of toilet paper, paper towels, diapers, wipes, dog food, coffee, and vinegar. Sometimes we'll pick up cereal or something else. We don't have a bulk buying house, but we also don't have a non bulk budget. For those things, we save $$.
ArtPrize: I think last year, my problem was lack of time to leisurely peruse it. I was out of town for work part of the week and then another weekend was out of town for a wedding. And then the other weekend I think I got sick!
Bulk: One other small factor on this is that in some cases, it saves on the amount of packaging that is used so less garbage/waste.
Tigers - I love that invite!! So cool. What other things are you incorporating in the theme? Peanuts, wing pins, air sickness bags? Love this theme.
As for bulk buying - The quantity of the bulk packages isn't nearly as big as I had imagined before shopping at Costco. We've maybe had to ditch one or two food items in the 2 years we've been members. But we really like to eat, so that might have something to do with it.
