PG ladies: when did your fatigue get a bit better?

Everything I've seen/read says it supposed to get better/less by the 2nd tri, but it still hasn't for me.  By the time I get home at 5:00 it feels like I've just run a marathon.  I'm asleep by 8-8:30ish.  I get SO tired, I just can't keep my eyes open.  I damn near fell asleep unloading the dishwasher the other night, my eyes kept closing.  Is it normal to be this tired, I've never been this tired in my entire life.

Re: PG ladies: when did your fatigue get a bit better?

  • It is entirely normal to be that tired.  I only wish I'd been that tired ... I had such BAD insomnia by this time that got progressively worse until it was so horrendous, that I was sleeping for about 3 hours total each night.  It sucked and I hated it.  I was bone tired in the beginning but I would wake up every.single.night after aout 6 hours of sleeping.  You're actually lucky to still be enjoying your rest.  =)
  • I still need a nap everyday. And I remember being tired the whole time last time too, when I was working. I would say to DH, "I am so tired! I don't know why..!" And he would have to remind me that I was creating life. Wink
  • Not until after the baby was born. Although, I do recall being less tired (though nowhere near energetic) around 20-25-ish weeks, then the fatigue hit me like a truck again.

  • I don't feel that I ever got over it and certainly not now.  I have been SO TIRED lately.  Of course, I am also fighting a cold...
  • Yah, I think thats pretty normal.  I remember being really tired all the time.  I saw some relief after my 1st trimester, but it didn't last long.  Enjoy the rest while you can.  It wo n't last long = )
  • It is normal to be tired, mine never went away, I was exhausted the whole time.

btw - April is a great month to have a baby :)

  • Not yet!  My morning sickness is still sticking with me too, but not as bad as it was.  I think all that talk about 2nd tri being so much better is bs.
  • It never got significantly better for me, either. I was always tired, in bed by 9:30 or 10, even throughout the summer when I wasn't working or anything. I wonder how true the whole "better in the 2nd tri" statement is as well.
  • Yep, when the babies were born for me. Not to scare you, but its really awful towards the end when you are so completely exhausted and you can't sleep more than an hour or two before you have to pee or something starts hurting
  • Doesn't low iron levels make one tired?  At your next appt, you might ask to be checked for anemia.  I know women are esp. suspectible to anemia . . .

My fatigue improved around week 12.  But then I got hit with a terrible cold that wiped me out.

I'm almost 17 weeks now.  And haven't taken a nap in over a month.  I still feel tired, but I'm staying awake till a normal hour.

But I have really fitful nights of sleep.  Getting up to drink, pee, change positions.  I think the constantly disrupted sleep is getting to me.

  • maybe when he goes to college...
