Anyone watching CA today

This witness is killing me. The FBI fingerprint lady.

I can't figure out if she is really nervous, or she just talks like that IRL. She sounds like she is reading a script.

and DOH! to not taking a picture of the heart sticker.. I realize the "FBI doesn't require it" but omggeezy.

  • It's also weird, to me, that she keeps referring to CSI (the show). I mean, I know it's probably to help the jurors to understand what she is talking about, but it just seems kind of unprofessional.

I mean, the Dr wouldn't say to his patient, "You know, on Grey's anatomy when they cut that patient open, it's kind of like that."

It's not going to change the jurors thoughts on the case, but it just seems unprofessional...

  • I stopped watching last week when I was in Chicago, and I'm trying to keep myself away this week now that I'm back working from home.  I wasted too much time watching it and I need to get work done.

    Update please!!!

  • Nothing super interesting today. A lot of scientific stuff- I watched a little on Saturday - but I seriously can not remember what went on. I had a headache that was straight from hell.

Right now the FBI finger print lady is on the stand. She's not saying a whole lot of interesting stuff. Just that she saw the heart shape on the duct tape, made a notation in her notes, called her supervisor over to show them, then went on about her business.. no photos or anything of it...

the tape went somewhere else and when she got it back the heart was gone.

    so. there's that.

I'm trying to to spend a whole lot of time watching at work. I actually have crap to do these days. Thankfully we've been pretty busy (sad for patients, yay for me).

I like her. I think she's pretty relatable. Way over-rehearsed, yes (and seemingly nervous, too), but jurors like CSI stuff. In fact, often they EXPECT CSI stuff, and I think throwing that in there may have helped them picture the process. It's pretty technical stuff and I think she's doing a good job explaining it.

And, as far as the picture, I thought her explanation that it is not her job to photograph other parts of the evidence (other than fingerprints) was reasonable. Did nobody photograph it at all? Because then somebody obviously dropped the ball, but if it wasn't her job, it wasn't her job.

I agree, if it wasn't her job, then it wasn't.. but damn. score for the defense. (from what i understand it was not photographed at all).

I would think, that when something "unexpected is found" as she put it, there would be aprotocol for what to do (besides notate it).. I mean, they did know they were working on duct tape from a murder, right?

She is doing a good job of explaining, but the CSI stuff is weird to me. But I can see how it's helping the jurors. I'm a little surprised baez isn't objecting to all the CSI talk.

Yeah, CSI stuff is tricky, because (as it is now) it can help the jury kind of understand what the witness is talking about, but at the end of the day, it also is a pretty unrealistic show. You don't want them to start thinking this IS an episode of CSI and the fingerprints and DNA and hair are all going to magically go into a computer and pop up with a picture of the killer in under an hour.

Wow! Prosecution wrapping up tomorrow or Wednesday? Perry says the jury may have the case by the 25th or so? Amazing.

  • Judge is saying the prosecution might wrap up Wednesday at noon.. Defense will start their case right after.. He hopes defense will wrap up by the end of next week.. hopefully deliberating by the 25th/26th..

I think we are done for today.. The state has no more witnesses until tomorrow. They were unable to come in today.

Yay, I wasn't going to be able to watch this afternoon anyway. It sure is nice of the state to take my schedule into account.

I am on the edge of my seat to hear the defense presentation. I don't know if the 25th/26th estimate will pan out, as Baez doesn't strike me as the type to be brief and to the point in his presentation, but either way, I'm excited.

  • Baez got lucky today with the PP being thrown out.

It will be interesting to see if this is done next week.  I cannot wait to see how this ends!

  • I'm anxious to see what Baez has up his sleeve.. If I were CA, i'd want this to draaaaaaag out.. esp since her life is on the line. (I don't think she'll get the D.P.)..but still

  • Jena, I agree.  I don't think she will get the death penalty, but she should get something.  She is guilty of something.

I wouldn't call it lucky - he's right that the state is required to disclose everything they're going to use at trial ahead of time. If they didn't do that, it shouldn't have been admitted. I agreed with Perry on that one.

Although it WAS strange to see a ruling go in favor of the defense for once!

  • I was watching info on the trial this weekend and some of the legal "experts" were saying they think she'll get off and continue as a free woman.  They were arguing the state hasn't presented enough of a case to say that she did in fact kill her daughter and that the defense is doing a better job of creating reasonable doubt.  I haven't watched any of the trial and I only know what you ladies have told me.  What do you guys think?  Do you think they've presented a strong case or will the defense do just enough to get her off?
  • I don't think she is going free. I don't think she is going to get 1st deg. murder for sure. Unless the prosecution has a trick up their sleeve in the next 2 days.

I think she is also up for aggravated manslaughter, even that I'm not sure. They really can't tie casey to caylees death. All they can say is that she lied about where caylee was.

There are also child abuse charges, and lying to police charges. Who knows..

I do think, that jail is a safer place for her. I think there are so many people that hate her, that she would not be safe back in the world.

  • I wonder if anyone has ever been convicted of murder in the first without even a cause of death, much less in a death penalty case.  I don't expect the jury to convict her of first degree, but I never did.  As much as I believe she killed her daughter, there is just no way to prove it now.  I agree with Jena, she would not be safe on the streets of Orlando.  Maybe she will suffer more outside of jail :/

Baez probably wants it to draaaaaag out too, so his bill will keep creeping up and up.
