I am watching John McCain speak on MSNBC right now.
In the middle of his speech, someone yells out CLEARLY: "Kill Obama!"
And what does McCain do? Does he stop his speech and explain how comments such as these are wrong and uncalled for? Does he ask secret service to investigate the threat? No. He holds up a hand to quiet the crowd and says (and I quote):
"I need to have a conversation with you for a few minutes here."
So, to all those detractors yesterday who asked what they could do...HE COULD HAVE CALLED THAT WOMAN OUT AND TOLD SECRET SERVICE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT HER.
This is entirely unacceptable behavior, and McCain and Palin should be ashamed of the behavior of their supporters, and ashamed by their own lack of appropriate response. It is NEVER okay to to let a comment like this go by unanswered.
p.s. I know that's a lot of exclamation points in the title, but I felt they were warranted....can you tell I'm upset?
Re: OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't I wish. ::sigh::
They apparently STILL haven't made a decision. Honestly, I think they probably just aren't going to fill it given the state of the economy right now.
EEP! Again with this stuff?
I'm writing today, so I have the sound turned off. I suddenly wish I'd left it on for that.
I wonder if McCain will be questioned about this one--and if he is, will he again say that he hears similar comments made about him at Obama rallies?
Honestly, I can't wait until Nov. 5. I really can't anymore. And whoever wins--be it McCain or Obama, they have their work cut out for them in trying to unite a pretty divided country. Ugly rhetoric is par for the course in an election, but I just don't remember chants of "kill him!" about Kerry a few years ago...
my read shelf:
Is there video of this somewhere? I can't find it.
I'm just a little skeptical since the first "kill him" story was a hoax.
Caden,
NOT A HOAX.
I was watching it on television live. It just happened this morning right when I posted. It's tivo-ed over at my house if you want to come over and watch.
I'm waiting for it to go up on youtube (I'd put it there myself but I left my camera w/ video capabilities at a friends house down on the LES and she's not home right now
), but until then you're just going to have to take my word on it.
