Learning Body Parts

G is starting to learn her body parts a tiny bit (she knows mouth, belly and bellybutton basically). What are some fun things/books we can do to help her learn them?

Re: Learning Body Parts

  • In Aubrey's class at daycare (which is all 1-2 yr olds) they sing "Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes" every day to help them learn.. its definitely helped Aubrey (although she still doesn't have shoulders and knees down)

I used to narrate EVERYTHING. "Now we're putting your left arm in. Oh, where's the hand? There it is." Things like that. Nicholas has even picked up his left and his right already because of it. I have tapered off now that he's actually conversing, but I used to sound a little on the crazy side. :)
  • There is a book at the Dollar Tree by Sesame Street Beginnings called Eyes, Nose, Fingers, Toes. It is a really cute book that gets them moving the correct body part. My girls love it. I also narrated a lot when the girls were smaller. I think it helps a lot.
