big AW: Kitchen renovation pictures (long)

It just occurred to me reading Ginger's post about projects that I haven't shared my kitchen pictures!!  We've been enjoying it for about 2 weeks now and I'm just so in love it's not even funny.

  • I am still so amazed by the transformation. I wish you could bring the old owner back to see her reaction, like they do on that show Moving Up. She wouldn't believe it was her house anymore.

  • Amazing.  It makes so much more use out of the space than the old layout.  I love the colors.
  • It looks beautiful!!!

  • You guys did a great job!  There's so much more cabinet and counter space now.  Are you going to do a backsplash too?

Out of curiosity (because I always wonder this with DIYers), have you guys done this kind of work before or how did you go about learning?

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

My husband is somewhat a self-taught handy man.  He did learn some from his dad (who learned from his dad, and so on).  it's stuff he just "gets" (it's his engineering mind) and over the years he's certainly tackled many projects.

    I'm just lucky, basically Smile

That's awesome. My DH is pretty handy overall, but we've never tackled big home projects and I'm afraid to let him do it Smile

MH loves projects like this.  we tore the room down and he did the electrical, expanded doorways, walls, etc.
