Runners check in

How are you ladies doing? Its been awhile since our last check in.

1) How did last week go?

2) Plans for this week?

3) How often do you run with someone?

Re: Runners check in

  • 1) Last week went well. I got 3 out of my 4 runs in. I ran about 11 miles which I'd like to get closer to 17-20, so no skipping that last run ;)

    2) I'm doing the Jungle Run 10K in about 4 weeks so I'm focusing on that. I plan to get 4 runs in: 3, 4.5, 3, and 6. Lower mileage than what I have been doing, but focusing on different goals.

    3) I run with someone once a week or once every other week. Its a nice change.

  • 1) Last week went well, for the most part. We did strength training last Tuesday. I also made a huge milestone -- I ran the full warmup mile without walking! Big Smile Thursday night I ran/walked 2 miles, in 3:3 intervals. Saturday morning we were in Emeryville, and I ran/walked 4 miles, in 3:3 intervals. Sunday I finally bought new running shoes! Last night I went for a 30 minute easy run/walk... but I think I may be injured. Sad I started noticing some slight pain (felt like a bruise) on my outer left ankle on Sunday. But it wasn't very bad, so I decided to do my run last night anyway. I had to cut it a tad bit short and walk the rest of the way because it started hurting more. I've been doing RICE since last night. I need to reach out to my training coach today to see what he thinks, since we're supposed to be doing more strength training this week. My ankle doesn't feel too bad, but I certainly don't want to make it worse!

    2) Up in the air... I'll either be resting my ankle, or I'll be doing strength training tonight, running 2 miles on Thursday and another 4 miles or so on Saturday.

    3) Most of my runs are done with others (the Team In Training crew). I generally have only one other day that I can run on my own (the other days are for cross training/rest), and I either do it alone or with my DH.

  • 1) How did last week go?  Good, it was a rest week for me.  I did the SJR 5k on Sunday the 5th and then took the week off from running.  Went running this Sunday for a short run.2) Plans for this week?  1 more run possibly.  I'm slowing my running down for obvious reasons.  I was doing 2-3 times a week and I think I'll move to 1-2x a week and do other cross-training instead.3) How often do you run with someone? Lately it's been weekly.  But our "running together" is usually we take off at same time and finish same time.  I was training my coworker for her first half marathon but as I got slower I would just encourage her to go out when I ran.
  • 1) How did last week go?   I got 3 runs in at 5 miles a piece.  Felt ok considering I had a million things going on with my grad school graduation stuff, errands, oot guests arriving, etc.

    2) Plans for this week?  more of the same.  My mom leaves tomorrow so I'll run in the morning and two other times this week.  Have to start increasing my mileage here and there.

    3) How often do you run with someone?  DH sometimes (read rarely) runs with me.  Maybe twice a month.  And for only part of my run.

  • Did a couple of runs last week. 3-5 miles. One of the runs, I think I had done oto much back to back workouts. My legs just "died" at one point and I had to walk. My cardio was fine, but my legs said they were done. I need to work on recovery period.

I'm going to try to give my body a break and do lighter cardio to see if I can do a better recovery before hitting it hard again.

I almost never run with someone. If I do, it's with DH and it might be one every 2-3 weeks or so.
