Moving to Woodstock!

Hello,

I posted about my husband possibly getting promoted to a job out there and he did! We found a place in Woodstock and will be arriving in Georgia on the 15th of July. Looking forward to making some new friends! Any suggestions on things to do in the area would be appreciated!

  • Welcome to ATL! If you're moving here from MN, make sure the AC in your new place is in prime working order, this is a super effing hot summer, in a place known for effing hot summers.

  • Welcome to Woodstock! I moved here 5 yrs ago myself. What part of Woodstock are you moving to? East (mostly off 92) or West (mostly off Towne Lake) of 575? Woodstock has the basics, but lacks a mall and doesn't have a huge variety of restaurants. We really like the community though. We shop/dine in the Kennesaw/Marietta area. If you'll be living east of 575, further down 92, you'd spend time in Roswell.
  • Welcome! We live in Woodstock as well and LOVE it here. Downtown Woodstock is great. We go to Pure for drinks, La Parilla in Town Lake is a good mexican restaurant although it's crowded so we prefer to drive to the one in Canton, we go to the butcher's block in town lake to buy steaks for grilling out.  If you have dogs that need boarding Bark Station is awesome. What things do you enjoy doing?

My DH and I just recently moved to Woodstock from FL.  I'm still getting familiar with the surrounding areas, but I really like it so far. I agree with PP, downtown woodstock is nice and Pure is a good place to go for drinks.  Since we are new to the area, we drive all around to try new places though.  What area are you moving to? (We live off of 92)

  • Well, I've never been to the house Surprise and I've only been to the city once! Dh and I checked out the area together over a weekend trip and we asked around to his coworkers for advice on an area to search for a house. Dh found this house during one of his work trips. I've only seen pictures online! I really trust him, huh?!?

I believe it's near Towne Lake Parkway. I believe we turn off of Bells Ferry Rd.

The Bells Ferry area would be on the western side of Woodstock, closer to Acworth and Kennesaw. We have friends that live in that area and they like it.

We live off of Towne Lake, not far from the theater. We tend to either dine by our house or in Kennesaw and Marietta. We rarely go to downtown Woodstock. We drive through it occasionally, but that's it. It sounds like we need to visit a few local establishments.

BTW, if you're looking for a less-crowded good Mexican restaurant, check out Mi Casa on Hwy 92 between 575 & Bells Ferry. We like it so much better than La Parilla.

  • Hey! I live in Kennesaw and work in Woodstock. Great area to raise a family!
