What Online Banking Tools Do You Use?

The earlier banking post made me think about online tools.  Currently I don't use any but I wonder what tools you use and what you tools you would recommend.

Re: What Online Banking Tools Do You Use?

  • Through the bank, online bill pay.  It makes life easier (especially for things that have the same amount due every month, so I just do a recurring one) and you don't need to keep as many checks around.

Through Mint I do budgeting, and tracking, see what we've spent money on and any patterns that come up, which helps when we're trying to save for something.

This is exactly what we do too.

Haha. I was going to say the same thing. I love Mint.com. I also use Mint.com just to make sure that there are no unauthorized or error transactions on any of my accounts. I log in at least every other day just to look at the transactions. It takes me 2 minutes but gives me peace of mind that no one has stolen my info and that there weren't mistakes in the amounts that I was charged. If I don't log on every few days, I forget what DH and I bought.

As for online bill pay, I've contacted all of the places I have accounts with and made all of my bills due between the first and 10th of the month. So, around the 22nd of each month, I log into my bank and pay all of my bills at once so that I only have to think about it once per month and so that I don't accidently miss any payments.

  • We use Online Bill Pay - it's wonderful! We use it both for recurring payments (rent and cable) and for payments that vary (phone bill, utilities, etc.).

It sounds like we need to check out Mint!
