Sporting good stores in town?

What local sporting goods or outdoor stores carry camping/hiking gear beyond Scheels?

I'm apparently having brain block.

Bass Pro Shop?  Sportman's Warehouse in Ankeny.

I'm trying to avoid Scheel because most of their stuff is outrageous.  How are Sportsman's prices?

It's so not in THIS town, but there is a ***'s in Coralvile? or CR, I don't remember which one.

I am not a real "outdoors-y" girl, so I have never been in there.  But if you are looking for something specific, maybe you can call and have them check the price.

Walmart also has some hiking/camping stuff too.

Sports Authority in West Des Moines on University, or Action Endeavors their new location is next to the Barnes & Noble in West Des Moines also on University.  They have some great camping stuff there but it is a little more expensive.

sportsman's and bass pro are more hunting and fishing type places.  When ever I go to sportsman's i never seem to find what I am looking for.  Honestly nothing around here is as good as REI !! sprots athority would be a good place to check out

When I was looking for a Carhartt coat for my H, Sportman's Warehouse seemed to have decent prices. They didn't have his size though, plus I found it cheaper online. If you are ever in Ames, there is also JAX there.
