Babysitter ?

We take A to a sitter who watches kids out of her house.  She gets 2 weeks vacation/yr (we have to pay her) and we get 2 weeks vacation if we want to take it (we don't have to pay her) and you have to take the days a week at a time.  So when A is sick or we want to not take her for a day, we still have to pay.  Well, the sitter is taking a day off next Wednesday and has not said anything about payment.  DH & I do not feel we should have to pay, as she is not providing a service.  She has not said anything about the pay yet.  WWYD?  Would you ask her about it?  Would you wait for her to say something?  Would you just adjust the check that you give her at the beginning of the week for that week and not say anything?  I just want to see if we are thinking along the lines of other people or if we are being cheap.. LOL

Re: Babysitter ?

  • I don't pay my sitter when she takes vacation or if she takes a random day off. But she also doesn't charge us for sick days, it may be different if we were full time... I would just ask her if her day off on Wednesday is coming out of her paid vacation for the year or if that is a day off you do not have to pay for.
  • You should not have to pay her. You would have to pay someone in her place if you don't plan to take the day off yourself. We only pay for days e are there. Her logic on the other things seems ok, but if u have to pay when a is not there because she is sick then she shouldn't expect you to be put out when she is sick or off either.

  • I would not pay her.
  • If your sitter is taking a vacation and A cannot go, I don't see why you should pay her.

  • I also don't think you should have to pay her.I think I would just adjust the check and let her bring it up. I would also write the dates A WILL be there in the memo line of the check.
