Objective Statement

Do you have one on your resume? If so, what does it say?

(This was being discussed on my local board. I don't have one because a career adviser told me to take it off.)

I used to have one, but knocked it off. The top of my resume has a section that I call "professional summary" where I highlight aspects of my skills/career that I want the employer to notice. Stuff like "Familiar with a variety of style guides; ability to adapt to in-house style guides" and "Experience and interest in outreach and advocacy to underrepresented populations." I rewrite and rearrange them according to what I want to emphasize for any particular job.

No. I feel like my cover letter sufficiently defines my objectives, and an objective statement on my resume would then just be taking up space.

No.  I just don't think most of them that I've seen have added much, if anything, to the resume.  So many of them have said something like "Objective: To obtain a job in the financial services industry."  It's like - no sh*t, that's why you're applying to a financial services company.
