OK, I feel really, really bad because I haven't been posting lately. So here's a total AW post. ![]()
DSS (9) is here for the summer. I am stoked to see him. Visits with him get more and more fun the older he gets.
Because school is really important to me (and I don't have much say in his education), I try to do something each summer to keep up the learning. One summer it was math workbooks. Another was counting change for allowance. We try to read a book aloud as a family each summer.
This year, I really wanted to tackle typing. Also, his study skills are lacking, so I wanted an ongoing project that would require a tiny bit of effort on his part. So I bought a learn-to-type program and installed it, and hauled out our old digital camera.
His assignment: To take one typing lesson every day (or thereabouts), then sit down and type 100 or so words in a "journal." He's also to take some pictures of anything he wants, which I will teach him to upload and save to the computer. At the end of the summer, I'll make a book for him out of his journal. Plus, I've got some incentives stashed away to keep this an exciting project.
Since DH is home now (probably the last time he'll have the summer off), and DSS is still young enough to want to be with Dad, it's going to be a very special summer for both of them. I think it will be nice to have it recorded.
Anywho, that's what's up with me!

Seriously! I love all the thought and care you've put into this. You rock!
I agree! You rock!
Maybe he'll be a world famous blogger or journalist someday because of this!
No matter what, I'm sure he'll enjoy having all these memories with you and his dad.
