my intern thinks I'm 65

I have a new intern.  She comes to us after working as a paralegal for 11 years for a firm full of 60-something men.  She's researching potential experts for us to interview this week.  Instead of e-mailing me the links to their bios, she prints them all out in large font and places them in neat stacks smack in the middle of my desk.  I asked her why and she says it's second nature from coddling these men for so long. :-P

I think we'll try to switch to e-mail tomorrow.  ;-)

  • Ha, love it! Sounds like she's been working for my boss- everything for him to edit is printed in 16 pt. font and 2.5 spaced so he can make notations and read it easily.

Hopefully your transition to email will go well!

  • This made me chuckle out loud.

Reminds me of some professors I used to work for at Yale-- they'd type up a letter, print it out, then walk over to my office and ask if I could type it up for them in a Word document with the correct formatting. And while I was happy to format the letter for them and print it out on letterhead, but couldn't they have sent me the file electronically so I didn't have to retype it from scratch?!? They already typed it for pete's sake!

I'm guessing this woman is going to find you a breath of fresh air!

I did think of you and your boss yesterday afternoon when the latest stack was delivered.  I tell you, 16 point font is kind of in my face and I'm not a fan.  So far, so good with the e-mails today!
