DSS wants to grow out his hair.
He's got the greatest brown ringlets you've ever seen. When his hair grows more than an inch, he looks like Jonah Hill:
And he is determined to grow it out.
So we have to buy leave-in conditioner and curl enhancer, just to make him NOT look like a ragamuffin!
Last night I was teaching him how to put all this stuff in his hair, and commented about how curly it was. I taught him how to fluff up the curls, and then asked him how long he wanted his hair ... what his ultimate hair goal is:
"I want it to my shoulders, and straight ... no curls."
Despite my best efforts to convince him that he has curly hair, he is sticking to his story: He wants shoulder-length, straight hair.
I'm sort of interested to see at what point he realizes that it's just not going to happen. ![]()
Meanwhile, DH has given him a deadline of 5 days to master the art of styling his hair, or he has to go back to short hair. (It's a responsibility/personal hygiene thing, not a mean parent thing.)

I don't think most women are much better! We do all kinds of crazy stuff to our hair and body to try to look like something we weren't meant to. (And I won't pretend that I haven't beed guilty of that too).
Well, to be fair, he just wanted it long ... he hasn't been putting ANY effort into it! (That's why he looks homeless most of the time!) When he DOES put effort into it, it's amazing ... ringlets! I swoon!
I told him last night that he uses twice as many products in his hair as I do.
When I was about 7, whenever people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said "blonde".
I say more power to him and his crazy dreams
