Recommend your favorite leadership books

I'm looking for some good leadership books and resources to help develop those skills a bit more. Any recommendations would be appreciated. I work in finance but I don't think it really has to be industry specific.

Re: Recommend your favorite leadership books

  • I would recommend anything by John C. Maxwell, Zig Ziglar, and Ken Blanchard.  On my list to read are:  The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon and The Mentor Leader by Tony Dungy.
  • John Maxwell's 21 Laws are good as is Bringing out the Best in People (author unremembered).  My copies are borrowed by a friend.

McKinsey Quarterly: posts some really good blogs on executive leadership.
Government Executive: If you're in the federal or public workforce; they have a great management and oversight section.
Washington Post On Leadership Blog: Takes advice and input from executives.  Really good for different perspectives.  I usually ignore those in academia, lol.

  • Various books by:

    James Kouzes &  Barry Posner

    Marcus Buckingham &  Curt Coffman

    Jim Collins

    Peter Drucker

Malcolm Gladwell (with the exception of What the Dog Saw
