Question from a visitor- are the jellyfish is Brevard County still bad?

I live in Texas, but DH and I are planning on a trip mid July to the Brevard county area. We saw the news about the purple jellyfish and now I'm a little freaked out. I haven't been able to find any recent news reports on them, so I'm hoping they went away. Any info would be appreciated!

Re: Question from a visitor- are the jellyfish is Brevard County still bad?

  • As of a couple weeks ago, they were still around. The last number I saw was that roughly 2,000 people have been stung. The jellyfish have been very localized. Where in Brevard will you be? Do you already have your hotel booked?
  • I was in Cocoa the wknd before last (June 11) and we didn't see any. We were in the water for several hours. no issues..and there were a ton of people on the beach.

  • Thank you! We've already booked the condo where we are staying on Cocoa, but I also wanted to visit Cape Canavaral National Sea Shore. I went a few years ago and fell in love.
