Is your A/C having a hard time keeping up?
Ours has been running almost all weekend. It's insane. And forget it if we start cooking dinner...it is a sauna.
Is that just because it is 100 degrees outside...or should we get it looked at?
I know we need new windows, and I know it is HOT out, but I don't remember it ever having to work this hard and still not keeping up.
Re: Is your A/C having a hard time keeping up?
ours cycles on and off... but we have a smaller home, and i keep all the blinds drawn and stuff most of the time.
if there is a lot of going in and out of doors, or we have the oven on, i usually have to turn the fan on in the living room.

Yeah...I have a 1500 sq foot home, the blinds stay closed and all fans stay on. That's what worries me. I have it on 78/79 but it hasn't gotten below 83 since lunch time when we got home from the zoo.
Is the air coming out of your vents cold?
We have our freon levels checked and the units cleaned every year.
I think so. We also have 12' ceilings...it seems like I need a good a/c guy. Any recs?
It sounds like ours did a few weeks ago. It ended up we needed a new coil (?) but we knew that. Before when it was doing the same thing, it was low on freon.
This is the number of the guy kjr recommended. He's really nice and very reasonable. To recharge our unit it was around $150

ours is about 1700... sounds like you need to have a checkup!
do you know how old the unit is?

Ours is set at 76 during the day and runs pretty much all day to keep it between 77-78, but they told us that would happen when it was replaced in Feb unless we got some better insulation in the attic. It gets plenty cold at night when the sun goes down.
