LASIK questions - need help

I am fed up with contacts and am ready to start looking into LASIK. Can anyone recommend a practice?

And for those that have had it, were you just near/farsighted or did you also have an additional problem? I have astigmatism in my right eye and have read that it can be extra costly to fix that...

TIA!

  • I got my surgery at LaskiPlus in Towson by Dr. Sonny Goel. I would recommend him and that office. I actually had two surgeries there (I had a "touch-up" a year after my first surgery).

I used their financing company, no interest for 1 year, so I just made a payment each month and paid it off within the year.

I only needed glasses for distance, not reading and I did not have an astigmatism.

Ditto.... My husband used the same place.  His only problem is if he is tired/late at night, the street lights look like sunburst.  He can drive but it's annoying.  He also used the financing company with no problems.  He does not need glasses at all.  I know his eyes were bad but I don't remember the details.

  • I went to Dr. Whitten in Rockville. He was recommended to be by my cousin. (He also is the same Dr. who did Tiger Woods and many other athletes.) I had it done about 5 years ago. I was near sighted as well as an astigmatism in both eyes. Yes, it was a bit costly because of that, but, well worth it for me. I hated contacts...I was always very sensitive to them and could never leave them in long.

As I said...it's been about 5 years and has been the best money ever spent! Good luck with your decision!

  • Thank you all for the recs! I am really looking forward to no more contacts.
