Worm Compost (Red Wigglers)
Just ordered some Red Wigglers for my compost bin. I've done TONS of research on how to go about this but does anyone have any experience with this or lessons that they've learned? We're housing them in a rubbermaid bin w/ holes at the top and bottom (to drain the water) w/ an extra bin below to catch the excess water. We have shredded paper & cardboard soaked in water for the bedding. Will this be as relatively easy as it sounds?
Re: Worm Compost (Red Wigglers)
I love my worm bin! Are you keeping yours outdoors? If you've done the reseach, you should have no problems getting started. A lot of my experience has been trial and error, and this board has been super helpful with tips. If you are having issues later on with ants / flies, you tweak the mix of greens / browns in your pile. Or tweak the dampness / dryness of it. That's really the only issue I've had so far - lots of bugs coming and going.
GL and keep us posted! You'll be amazed at how fast the worms eat through your pile. It's like a really dorky magic trick
