I was reading your post in the pg/mom thread and I wanted to recommend a great book to you! it's called The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by La Leche League International. I had this book by my side all the time the first couple weeks after I had Zoe and am still referencing it quite frequently. It has so many helpful tips and has reassured me so many times that what I was doing was ok. I have gone with my instincts and gone with the flow when it came to BF and this book has been really great to reassure me and offer suggestions I hadn't tried. I also troubleshoots problems you may encounter. I was so worried before Zoe was born that I wouldn't know what to do. I still don't know sometimes and now I'm in the 4-9 months section of the book and am still learning. I don't agree with everything in the book, but they are mostly on the same page as I am. HTH! :)

Re: *babybchbm*

  • I actually bought the book when Boarders was going out of business. My aunt is very active in the Atlanta area La Leche League and also recommended it to me.

I am slowly getting through it as I am also readying many birthing/labor books right now as well trying to get myself mentally prepared.

I guess my biggest concern specifically with bfing is going back to work and Little Man not wanting to continue breastfeeding. I know the benefits of bfing and I want to take full advantage of it. Now I'm just waiting on my ins to get back to me to see if they cover a portion of a pump.

  • I was worried about the same thinkg. I introduced Zoe to the bottle about 2 weeks before I went back to work. At first she had this look on her face like "WTF is this?" lol! But after a few tries she took it and was fine. She is still picky about the temperature. We have to get it around the same temperture as it comes out of me. Hopefully your LO will be fine! I know I've heard that some refuse the bottle, but I think that is rare. I was more worried about my supply when I went back to work. So far, so good, but I am only at work 2 nights a week. It's all definitely stressful at first but you eventually find your groove. :)
