drapes question

Our bedroom is an artichoke color, with white trim. The furniture is expresso (bed, bedside tables, fuax wood horizontal blinds) And right now our duvet cover is also an artichoke green. It's a LOT of green. I love the color, but I'm starting to feel like I'm living in seaweed.

I found this duvet cover at pottery barn, and I fell in love with it.

if I buy it, what color drapes would you get for the room? Would you pull the yellow? Or Blue? Theres a lot of blue in the comforter so Im thinking yellow... Once I get some answers there will most likely be a follow up question regarding the drapes lol

Re: drapes question

  • I would probably pull the rust color or maybe a darker yellow for the drapes.  Give the room some oomph and it would work well with the darker furniture.

  • I would go yellow.  I think getting that duevet cover and adding in the yellow will definitely help you over look the green walls if you are getting tired of them.  I also might pull the coral color for some decorative pillows or even if the draps you get have a little of that color it would look nice.
  • I was going to say the rust/coral color too.

  • I really love the yellow but depending on the exact shade of artichoke on your walls, I might be leery of looking a little too citrusy. If it is definitely a more muted green you could do the yellow still and it will look very bright and springy.

If you want to avoid that conflict all together I would go with the orangish red color for sure. It is really pretty and could really make everything pop real nicely.

    BTW, I love that bedding!

  • I'm boring and would probably do white shears which is what we are doing in our room. I didn't want to darken the room any more than it already is...

  • I was thinking a white/beige too, but I have commitment issues to color, lol.  I think lighter drapes would feel more airy.

I love sheers (and don't they are boring Aleesh) and would probably go that route with that color bedding because it just looks so tranquil unless you could find a really light color similar to the 'blue' in the bedding.

Is it horrible that my first reply was going to be "yes, yes the drapes do match". Hee heeDevil

  • If you hang the drapes a bit higher (DH Prefers them to brush the baseboards vs floor for cleaning reasons) and wider, then the drapes won't feel as heavy.

The drapes in my family room just barely graze the sides of the blinds.  Now the bedroom is a bit different b/c we have room darkening and want it dark, but I still have them just a tad higher and somewhat wider.
