Poll

Someone you know and are friends with on fb is constantly self-promoting his self-published novel.  Most recently, he has posted a trailer for the novel on fb--it has glaring errors.  Do you say anything?  Also, he edited some of the errors and reposted today, but there are still issues.

  • I voted "yes," but only if you really are friends with this person in real life.  If it's someone you kind of knew in High School, haven't seen for 10 years, and wouldn't talk to normally, I wouldn't say anything.

  • I'm with Kellie.  If he is a good bud, then say something.  If he is a "peripheral friend" then let it be.  I would totally be bugged by that though - especially if it was typographical/grammatical errors.
  • Agreed. It's like the saying "bad press is still press." I would just ignore it, unless you think this person would honestly value your opinion.
  • I voted SS because I am more apt to tell someone something if I can gauge what their reaction is going to be. If he's likely to be open to you telling him about his mistakes and/or you know he really wants this novel to get off the ground and be taken seriously then tell him. If you are not really good friends with him, think he'll flip out or the world is better off without his book (jk) then I'd let it be.

You say, "jk," but this is where I fall (really).
