Thank goodness it is cool tonight!

Our A/C has apparently died!

Re: Thank goodness it is cool tonight!

  • Crap! Well, it did pick a good time to go- we're supposed to have some more nice weather this weekend (though, I certainly hope it doesn't take that long to get up and running again! :).

Do you ever wonder how the hell people live here without central A/C? We have family that are renting on the coast, and their rental house doesn't have ANY A/C! At least they get the coastal breezes and stuff, but, I'd melt.

  • My college didn't have A/C in the female dorms...it was hot at times.
  • Well, if your ticker is right... you're going to need some cooling down here soon! LOL! GL- I can't wait to hear you announce your BFP!!! :)
  • Oh man that sucks!  But you're right...at least it is cooling off some.  When we lived in Tampa our a/c was out for a week in the middle of July!!!  Not fun!

I think it definitely depends on the architecture. Homes built in the South before AC was commonplace usually have the windows aligned to promote good cross-ventilation. Modern buildings mostly do not, so if the AC's out it gets really stuffy really fast. Blech!

I grew up without AC in Florida, and my husband lived without AC for several years in Southern Alabama, but we were both in pre-AC homes. Most of the places I've lived since were very, very stuffy without AC.

I hope they get your AC fixed soon. (Although I wouldn't mind if it cooled down outside either!)
