Who's been to VA Winerys...?
Has anyone gone to Virginia winerys or taken any tours? Tell me about it please. My in-laws are coming into town (LOVE my in-laws) and usually they help me out with projects like moving or painting or fixing things and this time around I refuse to have them lift a finger. My FIL is a die-hard Carlo Rossi Chianti fan (I think its $11 for that big jug thing) and we always poke fun of him so I thought a wine tour might be fun and pique his interest in something a little more refined.
Re: Who's been to VA Winerys...?
Thanks so much! That Prince Michel does look pretty fancy and it actually was one of "The Knot's" Wedding Winners. But it looks like I'll have to save that for a different time. I live in VaBeach and with the 4th of July Weekend I was looking to do more of a day trip than an over night. Definitely on my list though. Thanks again!
I was planning to take my mother in law to the premier outlet shops in Williamsburg and I believe there is a winery in that area. Maybe I'll have to get the guys liquered up so that we can do our shopping gripe free.
I have live in VA all my life and have been to many wineries. Prince Michel (pronounced Michelle) is the best in my opinion (in Culpeper). They have great wine and the atmosphere is wonderful. Since I live in C'ville I personally like Barbousville Winery (on Route 20 in Barboursville.) If you are up in the Fred'burg area I like Lake Anna Winery (Rt 208 in Spotsylvania).
Hope this helps :-)
I live in Virginia Beach, too. Last weekend we went to Charlottesville and toured a few wineries but it's definitely more of a weekend thing than a day trip. With traffic on a random Friday it took 5+ hours to get there.
However, Williamsburg is a great idea. In one day, DH and i went to the Williamsburg Winery (just did a tasting, not the full tour), hit the outlet malls (only a few specific shops), had lunch at our favorite place, and also did the tour and tasting at Williamsburg AleWerks (brewery).

This might have a few ideas. I'm in the C'ville area, and there's at least 2 dozen wineries within an hour's drive, so if you're into wine, it would be a great weekend trip sometime!
