do i really need an ipad?
so i'm pretty techy -- i'm completely obsessed with the internet, my phone, etc.
i love the idea of the ipad, but i'm not completely convinced. i just can't really see how it would be essential to my daily routine.
i have a droid, so i can access my email, attachments, internet, etc. with that. then i have my laptop with documents, better internet surfing, etc.
so does the ipad fill any of these gaps?
i'm interested to hear how you all use your ipads and how it's benefitting your life.
thanks!
Re: do i really need an ipad?
Do you need it? Probably not. But they are pretty awesome. :-)
I use mine mostly as an e-reader. I like it b/c I can use multiple e-reader apps (iBooks, Kindle, Nook, Google) and then shop around for cheap books.
We use it a lot for surfing the internet. We only have one laptop, so whoever is not on the laptop can use the iPad. We also use it for the game apps (Angry Birds!!), streaming Netflix, music, etc.
It's also nice to take with us when we travel since it does most of the stuff the laptop would, but it's a lot lighter.
I've had mine for about 3 months now and I freaking love it. I had a really old laptop before and the ipad is really fast compared to that. I use it for everything I used the laptop for and also use it as an e-reader. Its fantastic to travel with and as a music player as I love to cook and listen to tunes.
No, you don't need it, but they are pretty fantastic.

Totally agree! I have an iPhone and iPad as well and it's so much more convenient than your laptop. I love my mac but can't bring a laptop to all of my classes so it's nice to have my iPad not to mention convenient
thanks for the replies everyone!
it's really interesting to hear that everyone loves theirs! i definitely see the novelty in it, especially for the entertainment value. but what about the business side of things. calendar, documents, etc?
i'm also a freelance makeup artist, so i'm thinking it would be really great to have around for business reasons. to show off portfolio, etc.
I don't have one but have been looking into them and other tablets for the business side of things myself. I have a laptop for my real estate business because most of the documents can't go on a Mac and my eKey doesn't work on a Mac either.
I've actually found though that there are some pretty awesome apps available for real estate agents to use at open houses, on showings, and for marketing purposes. I dont' think it will ever truly replace my laptop but now I can at least leave the big laptop at the office and have something on the road real quick if needed.
I haven't decided on an iPad either, I'm researching whether those same real estate apps are available on an android OS tablet, because I think it'll sync my google calendar better.
