looking for some friends...

I moved to the norwalk/darien/rowayton area a couple of months ago and don't know anyone here! I don't work in a social environment and therefore feel pretty isolated sometimes. All my best friends are a few states away (one in another country) so I do have friends, just none locally. I wish there was a website like eharmony except for friendships! It's so hard to meet people if you don't have kids yet. Any tips?

Re: looking for some friends...

  • I've heard that meetup.com is a great site, but i've never gone to it myself.

  • I'm new to the area also, I'm living with my husband in Stamford.  I'm originally from NY, so my friends and family aren't that far, but I usually only see them on weekends.  I would love to meet some new friends who I could meet up with mid-week.  Maybe go to the gym, do some shopping?
  • Hi! I also moved around to the same area just about a month or two ago - I'm not new to CT but I'm back in the area after being away for a few years so I definitely know how you feel!
  • Try posting on CT Knot board. It's a lot more active than this one. A lot of us married ladies still post on there regularly.
  • I moved to Fairfield/Bridgeport,Startford area a year ago, and it is not easy meeting people.  I know it's challenging when you're the new kid on the block.  But going to local events, shows, and other venues that will let you stir up a conversation with others.  The Norwalk Aquarium is another idea in meeting people.  Whatever you find interesting in doing, you'll meet the same kind of people there and just stir up a conversation.  Don't be shy!  I hope this helps you in some way..God bless!
