South Metro restaurant recs?
My parents are coming to town in a couple of weeks and we're taking them out to dinner. We want to take them somewhere we haven't taken them before, and they're not very adventurous eaters. I'm out of ideas.
We're in Eagan and want to stay in this general area.
We've already taken them to Jake's and Bonfire and we generally want to avoid the big chains (e.g. Friday's, Olive Garden).

Roasted Pear in BVille - just off 42 & Nicollet, by TJMaxx
Chianti Grille - also BVille, just off 35E & 42
El Loro - Eagan, Yankee Doodle & Pilot Knob
Italian Pie Shoppe - just next to El Loro
If they liked Bonfire, they would probably like Axel's in Mendota. They're owned by the same company and the food is similar but Axels is a little fancier. Their popovers rock.
I Nonni in Lilydale/Mendota is good, too, but $$$. They have a little deli in front of the restaurant where you can get pasta to order that's pretty good and far cheaper.
What about Carbones? Savoy, even though I think the original location in St. Paul is far better?
If they were willing to venture closer to St. Paul you would have more options.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.

We've done both. They loved them, but we don't want to do repeats. The Burnsville and Eagan Savoys only do takeout.
Also, my parents are cheap. The prices at I Nonni would make them faint.

We were thinking about this place. DH is hedging because he went there once and thought it was meh. But it's super close to our house.

We love Doolittle's, brought my father in law, who is also not too adventurous and he loved it.
Also, I second Chianti Grill - Il Nonni is awesome, but yeah, it's super pricy.
Fireside Bar and Restaurant in Rosemount has awesome food. Looks small on the outside but the food is excellent.
