First, before his appointment today, Wyatt started climbing stairs! I cannot believe how fast he is doing things... even if he's not growing quite so fast...
His 6 month appointment was interesting to say the least. He weighed in at 15lbs, 7 oz (2 oz less than 2 weeks ago) and is 26 inches long (only 4 inches longer than at birth). His percentiles have been on the decline ever since he was born, but I wasn't quite prepared to hear them today.
At birth Wyatt's weight was in the 95%, today he is in the 10th
His height used to be the 75%, today he is in the 12th
His head size used to be the 65%, today he is in the 20th
Needless to say I was concerned to see his curve not curving and to watch the numbers drop so much, but my nurse told me that since he's so active he is using all of his calories and then some, so he (obviously) isn't gaining weight. I felt so horrible to hear her say that, like I was starving my baby or something.
THEN she told me that his physical development is leaps and bounds ahead of what they are used to seeing, and that his strength rivals that of most 9 month olds so I shouldn't be too worried about his weight, and to just start feeding him more solids. She said I just have a very busy boy (who tried to crawl away from her when she was measuring him), who is by far the strongest, farthest advanced (physically) 6 month old she has seen in 35 years in the field!
So it wasn't all bad news
Re: Wyatt's 6 month appointment update
Parker's percentiles dropped off too, but at his 9 month appointment. Since Wyatt is so active he is burning more therefore not gaining as much as he was when he just ate and slept. Parker was around 18 pounds and 27ish inches at his 6 month appointment (if I am remembering right). He is PERFECT and you are not starving him! That is just the way babies grow!
What are you giving for solids? Are you making your own?
One of my friend's kids is 3 years old and can still fit into some of his 12-24 month clothes because he is so skinny. Nothing wrong with him, that's just how he is!
Wyatt sounds like he's doing fine!
He's fine..there needs to be kids at all percentage points! Plus, as a newborn he was overdue -- he was going to be big! And you are tiny and his mom!
I'm scared knowing how active he is and only 2 months older than Ella..eek..better start baby proofing!
