Golf Gifts?

I apologize if it's stupid for me to post on this board, but I thought I'd give it a try. Just wondering if anyone might have a suggestion for me. DH is really into golf and I was thinking of getting him something golf-related for his 30th birthday. He is somewhat of a beginner as we just joined our neighborhood country club a few months ago, so he's been golfing a lot since then and really enjoying it. He's always trying to improve. Prior to that, he'd golfed just a few times a year since he was a teenager. I know nothing about golf.

Is there anything I could get him that would enhance his golf experience? I've been checking out golf gift sites but I could see myself picking something really cutesy and cheesy that I would think was great, but that he might not actually use or enjoy at all. Maybe someone on this board can give me a practical suggestion or knows someone who can. Thanks for any insight and again sorry for crashing the board :)

Re: Golf Gifts?

  • H said it depends on what he has but golf towels, golf shoes, head covers, and balls would all be good.

  • Thank you!
  • Golf lessons? I got that for my DH a couple years ago and he still raves about how much he learned through an instructor.

Also, are his clubs old or does he have new ones? I know clubs are expensive but you could start with a new driver, a new wood or iron set.

Or I know you have joined a country club but another random idea would be to get him a couple gift cards to play at other courses, if you're interested in that.

  • What's your budget?

I really, really second the golf lessons thing. DH took lessons and it's made a world of difference in his game. If lessons are outside your price range then look at a package at the local driving range.

You can kinda bundle that into a basket that contains any of the following:

    1. Ball markers
    2. Grass fixers (crap! don't remember what that's called)
    3. Sleeve of nice balls
    4. visor
    5. brush or regular tees
    6. cutsy/funny driver cover
    7. Towel
    8. Something from his "dream" course. Pebble Beach, Augsta, etc. have online stores and you can get a towel, tees, balls, etc. with their logo.
    9. Food - if you just wanna 'oomph' up the basket throw in a drink, energy bar, or GC to his favorite courses grill (if offered).
  • It depends on what he has but golf towels, golf shoes, head covers.
  • If he's new, I vote golf lessons! You can usually find a decent instructor at a good golf course. Try and get a deal from the guy. (like 7 lessons for the price of 5) Wrap the certificate in a box or however you'd like. Then before he gets home, take a bunch of golf t's and make a trail that leads to the bedroom where he'll find you and his golf bed sitting on the bed. ;)
