Jena and Carolyn

Are you girls going to do any of the halfathons this upcoming season? I was actually thinking of doing the florida halfathon challenge. Of course the Halloween one is 2 weeks after my full and the Holiday one is one week after Tough Mudder (which I registered for yesterday w/ my CrossFit team). Is it crazy that I'm already thinking of all the races I want to do this winter??

Re: Jena and Carolyn

  • I was thinking about doing the Halloween one, but it's @ the same time I'm training for the Women's Half. I'm actually supposed to do 13 that wknd, but I'm afraid I'll "Race" instead of just running.. If you do it maybe we can run together since you'll be recovering from your full . Maybe we can just fun run it? I want to do it, but I need someone to hold me back.

I also want to do the Holiday one, it's the same wknd of my b-day... IT goes over some bridges, that's the one thing that deters me.. I think it's 3 wks after the women's half...

Let me know what you decide. I'll go from there!

  • After taking a few months off of running, and then bringing it back full force with 4-mile runs, 5 days in a row, and feeling my leg pain flare up again, I've since backed off and decided that I need to start building from scratch.  So I'm trying to build my mileage up by 1 mile each week... starting with 5miles.  It's actually hard to restrain myself and run that few miles in a week.  I've cheated and grown by 2 or 3miles each so far.

These days I'm pretty much in "open water swim race, triathlon training and let's build my running back up smartly" mode.  So, no I'm not planning on racing a half-marathon anytime soon.  Would I be game for a training run for the race?  Yes, if my running continues to grow without injury, and I have y'all to run with.

Sounds good to me! Maybe we can wear ridiculous costumes too since we won't be trying too hard. :-D

We definitely need to do the Holiday one for your birthday! It'll become a tradition! :-) For as long as we can still run anyway haha!

Take your time getting back into it! There are two other half's that are part of the halfathon series in January and March. You can join in on those and any training runs you feel up to!
