Hi everyone,
My husband & I are really itching to buy our own place on LI. I'd like others opinions on towns on LI that would be good for young families. A good school district is important to us & access to LIRR as H works in NYC. We just would like an overall nice town to live in. Currently renting in Bellmore & love it here but it's quite expensive to own here. We're looking for somewhere affordable which I know if difficult on LI..
Can anyone recommend some towns they love? We're just looking for some ideas.
Thanks!
Re: Towns on LI
My husband and I just bought our first home in Kings Park. There is access to the Port Jefferson LIRR line right here and it's a quiet, blue collar town in Western Suffolk County. The school district is small and close knit. I don't have any children but I specifically wanted this school district in case we did. There are homes in all price ranges here and the taxes aren't as insane as neighboring towns (Commack, Smithtown, St. James).
I grew up in Commack and I wanted nothing to do with the town anymore. The school district toots its horn over nothing special and the people are nasty and rude and full of themselves. Kings Park is an escape from the hustle and bustle of Jericho Turnpike. It's close to the water and you can actually see stars in the night sky. Good luck getting that anywhere else in Western Suffolk.
