need party ideas for 7 y/o boy (besides CEC!)

DS turns 7 in a few weeks! He wants a party at Chuck-E-Cheese but I am trying to think of something else to offer as a suggestion because it seems most of his friends have had parties there.. I'm just trying to think of something different!

I checked out Monkey Joe's but their party packages are more than I want to spend.

Anyone have any ideas to keep 7 y/o boys entertained!?  THANKS!

Re: need party ideas for 7 y/o boy (besides CEC!)

  • hi -my son is 7 and a few of his friends went to All Play downtown DSM for b-days.  not sure if they had packages, but they had a party room and each child had a $5 or $10 game card to spend.  you could take them to an I-Cubs game?  also, i think for a summer b-day it would be fun to do a camp-like theme at a park, roast hotdogs, have a scavenger hunt, s'mores, etc.  so many parties are inside and cost so much moolah, i think boys just have fun running wild and having each other as entertainment :)

  • I like PP's suggestions, but I'll also add in the Incredible Pizza Company. My H had his company party there a few years ago, and it seemed good for all ages.

If you decide to do All Play, I won $50 in gc's from a radio station. If you wanted, I would give you a good deal on them (but they can only be used for games, including laser tag, but not food).

  • Incredible Pizza
    All Play
roller skating rink (on Meredith, off Merle Hay)
bowling (Uncle Buck's inside Bass Pro has lanes)
    mini golf
go-kart (I think Sleepy Hollow has a track)
    Blank Park Zoo
    Science Center
water park (Ramada on Merle Hay has one)

If it will be a small crowd and you have a backyard, what about water play - slip-n-slide, balloons, pool - at home? Grill up some hot dogs and serve with fresh fruits and veggies.
