LinkedIn introductions

Has anyone requested an introduction through LinkedIn?  I just applied to a job, and I was able to locate a recruiter for the company on LinkedIn.  The recruiter is a 3rd degree connection and the company is huge, but I'd like to try to get introduced anyway.  I'm not sure what to say to the recruiter.  Maybe something like this?

"Hello.  I applied to the [x] position at [company name].  I just wanted to reach out to you and express my interest in the position."

And that's where I get stuck, haha.  Any ideas?  TIA!

Re: LinkedIn introductions

  • I think that's a fine start. I'd add a couple sentences about why you are a good fit and how you would appreciate them considering you for the position.

So the next sentence would say..."Based on my xxx years of experience (with/in xxx), I believe my skills would be a good match for this position. I appreciate the consideration and hope to hear from you soon. I can be reached xxx."

That's all. I think anything more would be too much in a LinkedIn email.
