TrueBlood (possible book/show spoilers)

WTF just happened?!? When I saw the commercial with the snippet of eric catching Sookie's robe, I was so glad they were going to follow that plot line of the book.... Now I'm not sure they are going to follow much of anything! Booooooooooo.

Re: TrueBlood (possible book/show spoilers)

  • I thought it was an interesting spin from how things go in the book. I always thought she went over to Eric a little too easily (I'm Team Bill though...). I think this season is going to be really good. I'm excited!

  • Don't have HBO, so I didn't watch... But I honestly didn't think they were going to follow Book 4 that closely any way. None of the seasons have followed that much.

  • Really, lucky?!?! I'm disappointed in you, not gonna lie. lol

CD, the general gist has usually been at least minimally intact. I have a CW who watches the shows but hasn't read the books. She just asked me about the episode last night, and my response was, "yeah, NONE of that *** happens. NNNONE."  Although I hear that episode 2 picks up one story line of the book at least (and thank goodness!).

I can't remember what happens in which book but I feel like the fairy story line at the beginning did have similarities to how things play out in the books. It wasn't exactly the same but there were undertones.

ETA: Don't get me wrong. Eric is sexy as hell. I guess I'm just a sucker for Bill's romantic, gentlemanly ways.

I guess that's true about the fairy part, at least undertones.

And Bill's "romantic, gentlemanly ways" make me want to throw up all over myself. Then again, so does the "worshipping a woman's body" idea you mentioned at book club, soooooooo... different strokes. ;)

Ugh. I want to punch Bill in the face. I never found him to be romantic AT ALL.

  • **lots of spoilers**

Jen, I'm with you. Some people say they like how it spins off the books but isn't the books, but really I tune in to see how he interprets the books on the screen. And... ugh. Really? That is not even REMOTELY what happens. I can see that they're going with the witch/Eric storyline and the Jason/panther one, but it's still pretty jacked up. The fairy war thing isn't til much later; Claude was scary looking; her grandfather... really? that actor?; evil fairy queen? WHAT; Tara is a lesbian wrestler? Bill is the king?! Just stop. Please.

I did enjoy Pam in her houndstooth suit, though, since the books always talk about how prim she dresses, and Eric kills me with his shoulder swagger. I wonder if he really walks like that or if he has to practice.

Ha! It's cool. I have no problem being the odd man out.

  • I'm just c&ping what I said in entertainment because I don't want to type it all out on my phone:

Im a little disappointed, but I loved it at the same time.  I know that doesn't make any sense.

Im disappointed because it looks like its going to deviate fully from the books, and it hasn't really done that so far.  I mean, there's been different storylines, but its always followed the same outline.

I loved it because I know that I cant have expectations with this show and when I separate myself from the books I really really really enjoy the show.

btw, Portia is way too hot and Claudine is not hot enough.  lol

I was really looking forward to amnesic (sp?) Eric for a lot of this season, it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Also, the Tara storyline was whacked, I feel like they sex her up and she's not supposed to be like that at all. Where's JB?

I find Bill disgusting. His accent, the way he's obsessed with Sookie and then plays it off that it's not because the Queen wanted her is bullshiz. Eric may be full of himself, but he's, for the most part, realized that Sookie can stand on her own and he lets her make her own decisions. Well, he did in the books, apparently not in the show since be bought her house.

I'm working on getting a HBO.go login from either my dad or my boss since I don't have HBO regularly so I can watch next weeks episode. They say on entertainment that it follows the book a little better.

Totally agreed on Portia. I always pictured her looking like Andy, kind of homely.
