We have 1 child, 1 on the way, 2 dogs, & a cat.

While I consider DH my family, I read "immediate family" as all my siblings, their spouses and children, and my parents.  At this point, only DH and I live in our house.  We'd like kids but are struggling with infertility.  If I count all the people mentioned above, there are 20 of us.

Two adults, a 23 yo SD who lives in her own, and 15 yo SS who lives with us, 2.5 yo DD, two dogs and on cat who live with us.

trigal: I really like your idea of considering family to be so encompassing. I've noticed lots of my friends and family are living in extending family situations, but I have noticed that my family is my family and my H's family is his family, though it's very obvious that his mom considers me her family, which is really nice. I'm not sure how my mom feels about my H, nor how my dad did feel about my H, but he did think we were right for each other. It seems every year families and how we define them just get bigger (and not just from reproducing). I know I consider my cat part of my family.
