*FIA* Re- True Blood

I've been lurking on Entertainment today to see what people thought of last night's episode- after reading the article that you just posted, I'm sitting here doing my own personal happy dance Party!!!  I loved book 4 and wasn't too happy with the way that the season was set up last night, but now I can calm down because I have things to look forward to- so thanks for that!

Re: *FIA* Re- True Blood

  • The only thing I didn't like last night was the fairy world crap in the beginning.  The witch stuff I'm waiting to see on.  But the actual vamps stuff, I'm curious - I can't wait to learn how Bill became King and, of course, to see the Eric & Sookie stuff play out.  Mmmm, Eric.
  • I thought that the witch leader was definitely creepy so I'm looking forward to seeing her as the villain, but I don't like Bill as King- mainly because I can't stand Bill, the character or the way that the actor plays him.  But I can sit through it as long as I have enough Eric to balance it out!
  • Oh I'm not a Bill fan - I just think it's interesting that he's the King and want to see the background on that.  You probably saw on the Entertainment board, but some of the ladies there were saying that the witch who went from the coven meeting to Bill's new castle/house/whatever it is looked like Evan Rachel Wood, who played Queen Sophie Anne.  I didn't catch that, but I'm wondering now if it was her, and if so, that adds a whole other level of confusion (I mean, I gather he beat her in their battle at the end of last season, but what is she doing and why is she hanging out with the coven?).

My concern with the witches and fairy underworld storylines is that they'll become this season's Mary Anne.  I HATED that freakin' character and that entire storyline and it was almost enough to make me stop watching the darn show.  If it wasn't for HottiePatottieEric, I probably would have.

A lot of folks have watched the second episode via OnDemand or HBOToGo (I refuse - I like the anticipation of waiting a week! And if I watch it now, what do I watch Sunday?) and are saying that it's much better than the first episode and that we start to see the Eric/Sookie thing start to play out.  I can't wait.

  • *butting in*

I loved the premiere - I think they are doing a good job of very loosely following the books while still being different enough that I want to watch bc I have no idea what will happen next. My friends and I always say "well if it follows the book X should happen but who knows?"

I saw the second episode and it was MUCH better than the first - gave a lot more background while still being interesting and moved along nicely. I like to watch it early because as they say, waiting sucks. lol. But I'll rewatch it sunday night.

I did not notice that the witch who went to Bill's house was Evan Rachel Wood. I'm looking at it now on IMDB and she is listed as a castmember for that episode but in the synopsis she is not listed as the plant. But could be.  If it is her, then it makes sense to me - Bill knows there is a coven of witches and he is using Sophie-ann (who now would work for him I guess) to bring it down from the inside. But the witches don't notice that Sophie-ann is a vampire?

  • I see so much biitching on the Entertainment board from people who are mad that they aren't following the books, but I'm with you - I like that it's following the books loosely enough to appeal to my love for the original stories, but it's different enough that I'm kept in the dark.  I don't *want* to know everything that's going to happen!  I'm glad for the addition of some extra characters and the change in some characters' story lines (like Lafayette - seriously, what would that show be if Lafayette's story line matched the books?!).

I'm interested to see why Bill wants to bring down the coven of witches and exactly what the head witch is getting into.  Clearly she's dabbling in bringing things/people back from the dead, but who does she ultimately want to bring back?

I LOVED Pam trying to do the commercial and failing miserably at being warm and inviting.  HA.  I love her character.

I'm also interested to see Jessica and Hoyt's relationship and what's going to happen with them.  As an aside, I gagged when Hoyt started eating those eggs.  And why is Tommy living with Hoyt's Mom?

  • Yeah I'm with you clearly. Even though I think they do kind of jump the shark at points (I agree, I hated Marianne!!)  I think they're doing a good job of keeping the readers guessing.

the witch coven is weird to me bc I dont remember it - I mean I remember it from the book, but I don't remember -they were just witches?  Why were they bad? I'm drawing a blank and may have to re-read the books to refresh my memory.  BUT I'm kind of figuring the answer to why Bill wants to infiltrate the coven is similar to the answer to "why were they bad" maybe.

I remember the witch coven in the books, but I don't recall anything having to do with bringing people back from the dead.  It was more that they wanted power/control in the area.  And weren't they the reason for Eric's memory loss?

Yeah I dont' remember the raising-people-from-the-dead either, but I think you are right regarding the memory loss. So this could just  be a power struggle?

Who do we think they are actually trying to raise from the dead - a powerful witch? Or maybe if they can raise people from the dead they can control vampires (who are dead)?   This is going to be interesting.

Do we meet quinn this season do we think?

Maybe they want to see if they can turn vampires back into human form?  That'd be a twist!

I think Quinn was introduced in the 5th book, but they could easily combine some of the storyline from that book into this season.

I do want to know how Bill ended up becoming King vs Eric, I can't imagine Eric sitting back and watching as Bill took over.  I haven't watched episode 2 yet for the same reason as FIA, if I watch it early, I'll have to wait 2 whole weeks for a new one, and I need my weekly dose of True Blood, lol.
