I saw in your other post that you were researching flooring. Did you happen to run across a good catch-all site that describes all kinds of flooring? We're going to be redoing our kitchen floor and likely ripping up carpet in some of our rooms and I just feel so clueless about the options. The gals on the decorating board keep mentioning things I've never heard of.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

Re: **Dani**
Since my closet/craft room is just a spare bedroom upstairs, we pretty much narrowed it down to laminate really quickly. We wanted the look of hardwood without the expense (and weren't worried about "resale value", both because we aren't planning on selling any time soon, if ever, and because it's cheap enough that we can change it if we need to). It didn't need to be anything fancy -- just durable and inexpensive. Our neighbors installed "wood" laminate in their front room and it looked really good, so we decided to go that route.
If I happen to come across a really good guide to flooring options as I research the laminate I'll be sure to forward it on!
Do you have any thoughts on what look you like for the floor?
For the kitchen, I don't know. It's crappy linoleum now. Tile would be the obvious choice, but I don't like how the tile in our bathrooms is always freezing during winter. So that leaves other options I don't know much about, including engineered hardwood (whatever that is) and other stuff. I think we should probably just go to a flooring place and look.
Sooner or later we'll rip out the mint green carpet in our bedrooms and see what the hardwood looks like, eek!
How's your craft/dressing room coming along?
I'd definitely go with something that will withstand water damage then. It doesn't sound, from my research, like laminate would be the best choice for that. Hardwood and engineered wood are also probably not good options (unless you seal the hard wood with a good water-protective sealant). If you like the look of tile, you can add radiant heat underneath it so that it keeps it from getting cold.
The other option to consider is vinyl. It's inexpensive, and some of it looks pretty crappy. But, I just found out that our neighbors actually installed vinyl flooring (that looks like hardwood!) in their living room, not laminate. They said it was super easy to install, and it actually looks really nice. Plus, vinyl is a good choice for potentially wet areas like kitchens and bathrooms. They used the Allure brand, and bought it through Home Depot. There are lots of samples there according to my neighbor.
As I was researching vinyl vs. laminate I did stumble across a couple of websites that talk about your options. I hope these will be helpful to you.

We're just really getting started on the craft room, but hope to have it done soon. I'm guessing we'll paint and maybe do the floor this weekend (if I can settle on something!). And then comes the fun of putting together and installing all of the cabinets!
Vinyl is the same as linoleum, right?
And thanks! I'll check out those links. Would love to see pics when you're done with your room.
