How was Helen's first camping trip??? :-)
Re: **mainly foolish**
Short but fun!
We had the campsite for Friday and Saturday nights but with the rain all day Friday and thunderstorms predicted for overnight, we skipped Friday and didn't go up until mid-day Saturday.
We had lunch at McDonald's in Falmouth and got to Hermit Island around 2, set up the tent while Helen blew bubbles, got Helen to take a nap, cooked dinner (hot dogs and corn on the grill - Helen ate chips and peanut butter on a hot dog bun), walked over to the beach, walked back to our campsite, attempted to start a campfire, gave up on campfire, toasted marshmallows over the grill and ate s'mores, went to bed. Sunday morning Helen was up at around 6, we ate chocolate chip muffins for breakfast, tossed a ball around with Helen, packed up the campsite, left around 9, stopped at McDonald's in Bath for second breakfast and DD played in the Play Place, went home. It's a toss-up whether Helen enjoyed the s'mores or playing at McDonald's more.
It was a hell of a lot of work for what ended up being less than 24 hours of camping, but at least we know now that Helen likes it and we'll be confident to try again for another two day camping trip next year.
