Iowa River Tubing

Has anyone tried any of the tubing trips around here? I was looking at things to do around here on the water this weekend and found 2 places to do 8 mile floats down the river. I'm guessing the river's not the cleanest but it sounds like fun. Any have any experience? Any other fun ideas of stuff to do for the long weekend?

Re: Iowa River Tubing

  • I think that sounds awesome and so much fun!  I went tubing all the time in Colorado, but never here.  I also found this, which would be fun:

  • That looks like fun and closer to home too. We'll have to try that out one of these weekends. Now we're leaning towards going up to Waterloo for the day. They've got the biggest waterpark in Iowa up there!

  • The only place I have ever gone tubing at is Apple River in Wisconsin (about a hour east of Minneapolis). Wild times there.

I thought the biggest waterpark was in Dubuque? Wasn't there one just opened there a few years ago?

  • I have a friend that does a weekend up there every summer. We always seem to have something going on when they do it. Sounds like it gets pretty crazy. I liked the idea of the Iowa River ones because we could just do them as a day trip.

I think the waterpark you're thinking of is the one in Waterloo - Lost Island... It was really new when I worked in Waterloo 2 summers ago. They just put in a watercoaster last year too!
