Wool mattress pad?

We have a traditional waterproof mattress pad, feels like polyester and has a plastic/vinyl backing.  I want to switch to wool so it's more breathable.

So, anybody have a recommendation? If not, is there anything I should keep in mind when shopping for wool?

Re: Wool mattress pad?

  • you can get a wool blanket from an army surplus store... it's pretty much the same thing, but they are $20. :)  You might need 2 to fully cover your bed.  I just draped mine over the potential danger zones.  If you are really worried about super soakage, just lanolize it in your bathtub (you can find tutorials on lanolizing wool soakers for diapers online - same idea, just in giant proportions!

Domer, I just realized you responded to this.  You are a genius.  Being near a military base, I have tons of access to surplus stores! I will definitely hit one up!
