Re: Mrs.De - Essex?
butting in....
No, that place is WAY fancier than our Essex! Looks nice though!
This is our Essex:

No joke.
We are a bunch of foul mouth critters that like to eat sandwiches as big as our own heads. Or maybe that is just me, 315 and MrsDe....
Speak for yourself! I think we be way klassy to hang at an effin place like that, no? lol
I will only spend that way on a brunch once in a blue moon. That isn't my normal brunch budget. But for a nest gtg with the gals and Max Brenner's, I was willing to bust the bank.

Exactly! I always think that Essex is soooo cheap because it's $22 and it includes THREE drinks! I've been to places where one drink alone is almost that much!
I put in $45. But I had the iced tea, the entree and the dessert and nothing is included. Gave me heart palpitations to put in that much, but it was worth it. Not like I had to eat again for the rest of the day, either!!
LOLLLLL. Ok well hmmm, so you don't think I'm a weirdo, I will share that maybe my feelings can be attributed to the following: I am the only one (from last weekend's brunch) that lives in Manhattan, so my rent is MORE THAN HALF my (husband's) income. Additionally, all my regular expenses (groceries, etc) are more than yours. So I have less money left over for playing with. Also, I just graduated from grad school and still kind of think of myself as a student. Both my husband and I have student loans to pay off. AND I don't have a job! Maybe I will change my mind once I have a job. Having said that, any job leads???
if I lived in Manhattan and didn't have a job I would probably stick with Ramen noodles and stale bread :-)
No leads for you, but good luck! I am sure job hunting is stressful in this economy!
The only thing I can suggest is move to one of the outer boroughs and commute like the rest of us.
You'll save half the amount of money in rent and groceries and will be able to afford the brunch. lol Good luck with finding a job.
We save money by never going out (see, who says having a baby is expensive?). We don't have family in the area and sitters are $$$. We hardly ever get out anymore, and even more rare that we get out together so the occasional $$ brunch is a well deserved treat
