8 hours in a car with a 10 month old!
Did I just say 10 month old?
Raedyn will be 10 months on Friday and we are driving to Cali for the weekend to see family. She's usually great in the car but the longest drive has been about 2.5 hours. I know we'll have to take lots of breaks but what kind of things can I do to keep her occupied? I need some ideas!

Just a thought, but if she is into the baby einstein stuff maybe take a portable DVD player with you.

we attempted this once and it was a huge, gigantic fail. he woke up every 15-30 minutes because he wasn't in his crib. he was about the same age as her's, and he just didn't sleep well anywhere else but his crib. but all kids are different, if she's a good car sleeper i'd try it!
i always sit in the back with dominic and keep him occupied. i used to get a few new toys he hadn't seen before for california trips. he's not into tv unfortunately so a dvd player wouldn't occupy him at all. also kept lots of snacks on hand, snacks always take up a lot of time
We're trying to have as much time there as possible so we're leaving right after DH gets out of work.

I've done the trip to and from LA on my own with the pup and DS. I bought a few new books (the ones with buttons down the side that make different noises), a leapfrog leap top for like $15, and few other small new toys (nothing expensive), and I introduced a new one every hour or so and it seemed to keep him pretty occupied. His afternoon nap also killed about an hour and half. We stopped a few times for potty and lunch, but it wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be. Good luck!
We just drove to Sacramento (13 hours) a few weeks ago with DS. Going there we stayed the night in Bakersfield, coming home we drove straight through. I brought a ton of toys to entertain DS with---- he slept the ENTIRE time! He woke up to nurse and when we stopped for gas but went right back to sleep 5 minutes later. It was great- except it meant he was wide awake when we finally stopped to sleep at night! We went through a little sleep regression after that trip, but it just 2 days to get him back on track.
GL!
