It's good to see you on here! Though I do keep up with you on facebook. Please tell me how Bri decided on a bacon-themed party, too cute. She has her momma's creative thinking for sure!
Re: Tupp
You see, it all started me and the glorious day when I drove home and saw the sign. It was a mini-billboard, actually, and on was "Spektafel" in huge letters plastered across an ad for an airshow at the local airport. Now, quickly, I used my best Dutch to put the word into something I could understand. Spek means bacon, and tafel means table. Bacon Table? Bacon Table. Hmmm. Bacon. Table. It clicked! It must mean a buffet! A buffet of nothing but bacon! At this moment I thought the Dutch were the single most brilliant people on the planet. Why hasn't anyone else thought of a huge bacon buffet? We were soooo going to this airshow thing this weekend because I was going to bask in the glory that is an all-bacon buffet. I got home quite excited and told the husband how we were going to head to the airshow. He was quite surprised as normally I hate airshows. I explained it wasn't the planes we were going to see, but the bacon buffet. A look of confusion. "A bacon, what?" he asked. "Bacon buffet. Bacon table, actually. The sign said "spektafel". Bacon table. Ergo, bacon buffet." I proudly answered. He looked at me quizzically for a second, then two, then suddenly burst into laughter. He said you mean "spektakel. With a k, not an f. That means spectacular or extravaganza. You know, like a large event: a circus spectacular, a carnival spectacular, a Vegas show spectacular." I guess I should have been embarrassed, but in all honesty I was so let down by the thought there would be no bacon buffet I wasn't thinking of my silly mistake. This year, the Eldest, in honor of my spectacular mistake, has decided to theme her birthday entirely around bacon. It will be Bri's Birthday Spektafel. And, just for me, she will be having a bacon buffet lunch. So, just for her, I am making her a large bacon shaped pinata. It's going to be great!
This is awesome. I want to come to the birthday spektafel.
I've missed you.
