SA Wednesday

I'll start today off because I am wide awake and I dont have work.

Its a bit of an AW but I am proud, I have worked out 3 times in the last 24 hours.  Last night I went and did hot yoga and holy cow it was awesome and sweaty.  I have done yoga before but never hot yoga and I really enjoyed it.

I slept like a baby last night for the first time in a long time without taking any medication.

What have you guys got going on?

  • BL: I've heard really great things about hot yoga but haven't actually tried it. I'm not 100% sure I'd like it all that much! Tongue Tied

I wasnt sure either, last nights practice was in a 92-95 degree room and it was perfect I am not sure I could handle the 103 degree practices.  I have done yoga quite a few times and I was amazed how much more flexibility I had in the hot room and I know it was the heat because I could get WAY deeper into the same poses at the end than in the begining

I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I've heard horror stories of people who have passed gas while doing yoga and that it's a faux pas. I'd be one of those people - not on purpose - so I stay away from yoga for the most part. Embarrassed

Thanks for making me LOL.That would suck though.

  • Sorry - It's a WR say anything.  I was looking through the Dallas Brides magazine yesterday and saw Anna!  I was surprised to see a picture of DH and myself too.  I went online to send the link to my mom and saw Michelle in the hitched section as well.

Anna is on 102 and we're on 100

  • Renee finally changed her picture!! Me likey! :)

I slept amazing until 4am. Woke up with a terrible migraine that didn't seem to go away with Zomig after an hour and I felt like I was going to puke the whole time. I had to eventually pull out the ice pack and basically use it as a pillow. I finally fell back asleep and now I feel like I could sleep all day, but have to get up. Luckily my migraine went away but I feel so drowsy.

Summer, Are you sure your headaches are migraines or muscle tension? They treated me for migraines for years only to find out all along they were muscle tension.

And it took me for stinkin' ever to get it! I think at one point I had 10 tabs open.

I'm sorry you woke up to such a terrible migraine. I've had such pain with the puking feeling too and can't imagine that waking up to that would make for a good day.

  • DH's boss came into town last night and I was a little nervous as it was the first time I was meeting him and meeting a guy with a Ferrari and a Lamborgini is a little intimidating.

He took us to Texas De Brazil and was really great to talk to. It turns out the he and his wife are starting a new healthier lifestyle which he and I were able to talk about and we got on like a house on fire. We talked about Green Monsters and HIIT - it was basically like talking to you girls...haha. DH was really happy that his boss raved about me this morning when he met him for breakfast - yay for being the charming wife!

Summer, Are you sure your headaches are migraines or muscle tension? They treated me for migraines for years only to find out all along they were muscle tension.

Strange you say that, because I was having awful neck pain yesterday after my pedicure and I think it was something from the massage chair and the way I was sitting. My neck hurt the rest of the night, and then I started getting a migraine before I went to bed but it wasn't super bad yet so I took a pill and went to bed. It went away enough for me to sleep like a baby until 4am, when it came back with a vengeance.

I know migraines are typically hereditary, and my mom has had them bad her entire life. Normally I get them around a week before AF arrives, and maybe once during the week of AF. So, typically they're hormonal and I know I get them a lot based on atmospheric pressure as well, and temperature.

But, yesterday I'm wondering if it had to do with the tension in my neck.

I will still get a migraine every now and then but the majority of mine are muscle tension.  When I get a headache I can almost always think back to something the day before or earlier that day that triggered it. Examples a long meeting where I am looking to the left or right a lot, a day where I read a lot with a bad angle, lifted heavy and with bad form, ect.  I have gotten good at targeting the difference between the two as well as the occasional sinus headache.  If I can feel pain coming from my neck area then migraine meds will not work, but I have found that excederin muscle tension works pretty good but sometimes I have to take a muscle relaxer.  My headaches bring me to the point of puking at least once a month so I completely understand that feeling.

  • Yay Leslie I am glad it went well, I so want to try Texas de Brazil.
  • Since, I've been bored lately it's time for me to do something about it. So, I'm going to go see Bad Teacher this afternoon. Hopefully, there won't be any bad traits that reminds me of myself or fellow teachers.
  • Well I talked to DH last night and told him how much he had hurt my feelings the night before.  I asked about the ex's pregnancy and if they had issues and he said no but he still felt like I wasn't "handling" this well.  I asked him how he thought I could handle it better and told him I would take what he said into consideration but I need to know from him that if I am having a rough day and not feeling 100% that he will still be behind me 100% and he will do whatever he can to help.  He said he would and that he was sorry for the way he said what he did the night before and that it wasn't meant to sound harsh but that he will learn to think before he speaks because he can't imagine what I am going through.   I'm just glad we were able to talk it through without me crying or him yelling.  It was productive!  Now if only I can really get him to think before he speaks!

Thanks Leslie, Summer, and Sarah for letting me talk this through with y'all!

Texas de Brazil is pure deliciousness!  I love that place, but you must go kinda hungry!

Natalie, I hope your head starts to feel better soon.

ETA:  Dana, I'm so glad that you and DH talked through things productively.  :)

  • I used to have really bad tension headaches.  They've gotten better, but part of it is that I've figured out how to spot them before they get too bad, and do things to help make them less severe.  I have this neck stretcher thing that doesn't look (or reallly feel) like it's doing anything - you just put it under your head and lay there for a little while.  It helps realign things, and takes a little pressure off, and even though it feels like a very passive treatment, I swear that thing is amazing.  It's called the Real Ease neck support.

My SA is a little more of a B&M:  AF showed up a week early.  WTH, stupid body, wth... this is really messing with my weekend plans.  It's hard to be all outdoorsy and stuff with this going on.

So do I!  I've never been there!

DH's boss is from Ohio and they have nothing like it, so DH had told me it would probably be where we ended up so I made sure to eat like 300 calories all day so I would be sufficiently hungry and also not completely blow my calories for the day...haha.

It is so good if you like meat. If you do not like meat, it is not for you. I was glad to go there last night because I ate imported unpastuerized goat cheese and medium-rare steak. Both no-no's while pregnant, so glad I got to enjoy copius amounts of both! And wine of course...lol.

  • Leslie,

I finished reading through all of Bens blog from day 1 to current.  I feel like a stalker but its an inspiring journey and I didnt want to only know part of it.

  • Leslie-  I am so jealous!  I love Texas de Brazil.  My MIL informed me a while back that you can opt to just eat the salad bar and no meat for less $.  I wish I would have known that before because while I enjoy the meat, I never feel like I can eat my $'s worth.

GM Girls-  You must be smarter/better in the kitchen than I am.  Made my second one this morning and sucked as bad as the first.  I am going to make one more on Friday and if it sucks, I am out.

To all who offered advice-  I went with the plan and did not wash my hair this morning.  I am feeling very unlike myself, but my hair doesn't look that bad.  I just keep repeating to myself....I can do it, I can do it, I can do it.  Thanks so much for the encouragement!

Yeah, I feel the same way - luckily we didn't pay last night, so I was free to eat four pieces of meat and not feel bad!

We are going to turn you into a dirty hippie yet - unwashed hair and spinach shakes! :)

BL - Yay! I am glad. Sara and I both agree that old chunky Ben is a little more charming than new fit Ben, but I still love him just the same. I can't wait to meet him like the fan girl I am. I really want a Do Life Tour shirt too.

I made a strawberry/peach one this morning and it was pretty good!

I made a strawberry/peach one this morning and it was pretty good!

The flavor was better today; I did pineapple and peach.  My execution just sucks.  I left some for DH to try and when I called him to get his reaction he informed me that he doesn't think I know how to use the blender correctly!  It is quite possible, I don't have a lot of blender experience.

He said he will give me a blender lesson tonight!  Cross your fingers that Friday's (possibly last) attempt is better!

  • Why didn't you like the flavor?  Like was it not sweet enough or was it a texture thing?  Are you putting the spinach in first and the heavier ingredients on top?

I liked the flavor (peach and pineapple), it was the execution that was bad this time.  Here is how I do it(Feel free to pass along tips; list from bottom of blender to top):

    -crushed ice

    -spinach

    -almond milk

    -frozen peaches

    -frozen pineapple

It just doesn't blend evenly.  I still have big spinach/fruit chunks.  It may be my blender, but it is brand new...only used (now) twice!

  • Lauren, I think someone on TK posted that you were in that magazine.  She didn't have a link though so yay!

I tried Bikram yoga once and felt like I would either throw up or pass out the whole time.  Needless to say, once was enough for me.

My GM this morning was soooo delicious:  chocolate soy milk, spinach, a banana, ice, and 1/2 tbsp organic natural peanut butter.  YUM!

Sara, I had a hard time at first too and almost gave up.  Hopefully your blender lesson will improve things.

Dana, so glad you and DH are better.  :)

Hmm well your order seems okay.  What setting do you have the blender on?  Even when I first made mine, I still got it blended okay...there were a few banana chunks left though.  So maybe it's the setting?
